Caffeine & Closure - Grinding Through Grief
Years after my first heartbreak, I poured my creative energy into a scrapbook journal, using design elements like quotes, typography, and visual narratives to explore the role of caffeine in my life during that challenging time. In the aftermath of the breakup, I turned to coffee as a coping mechanism, seeking solace in its familiar comfort despite the jittery, disoriented feeling it often left me with. The scrapbook captures this paradox, illustrating how I tried to fill an emotional void with something that got me through the day but was not an ultimate solution.

Creating this project was not about reflecting on past emotions but about telling a compelling story through art. It highlighted how people often seek out ways to feel whole again after difficult experiences. My scrapbook journal, infused with the chaotic energy of caffeine and the bittersweet nostalgia of that time, became a powerful outlet for creative expression. It transformed my pain into a narrative that others can connect with, showing that even the most challenging experiences can inspire profound and moving art.

In addition to the physical scrapbook, I extended the project into the digital realm by creating a nostalgic retro Tumblr page. This page serves as an online reflection of the scrapbook. It mirrors the blend of nostalgia and heartache, offering a window into the complexities of seeking wholeness through creative expression.
