The Colorado Fourteeners Initiative Rebrand

Back in 2010, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to volenteer with The Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI)—a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and stewarding the state's 54 peaks that tower over 14,000 feet. Their work encompasses sustainable trail construction, visitor impact management, and environmental education. CFI strives to harmonize the enjoyment of these majestic mountains with the preservation of their delicate ecosystems. Despite their impactful efforts, their branding and social media presence needed a boost. Here’s my recent approach to rebranding this remarkable organization.

When crafting the new logo for CFI, I focused on their core values and mission. I began by brainstorming a list of nouns for inspiration and deeply exploring what the organization stands for. This creative process led me to design a mountain motif with the letters "CFI" intricately intertwined, accompanied by a radiant sun overhead. The sun symbolizes their unwavering commitment to conservation and stewardship. The interconnected letters reflect the collaborative spirit that is at the heart of CFI's mission.
